I'm racking my brain for things to teach you,
something that I've learned about bow-making over the past 3/4 of the year...
First off, the learning-curve is around 6 months. I read it, didn't believe, but now I believe it.
So, if you're going to start making bows (which I recommend if you have 2+ daughters lol), start now, and only buy ribbons that are one sale.
As much as you will want to buy all those pretty, little-patterned ribbons--DON'T. It will be a waste of money and a little sad that you had to use it for bows that didn't turn out the way you wanted.
I don't believe that you'll do this, unless you say aloud, "My first ribbon purchases will be ON SALE!"
So, here's my list, for moms that want to create bows themselves!
1. Buy a bow-making template kit if you want to cut the learning curve in more than half.
2a. Purchase ribbon from the $1 bin at Michaels or the left-over bin at Hobby Lobby ;)
(And purchase hair hardware (clips, barettes, etc.) when Hobby Lobby has a 50% off sale!)2b. Purchase different sized ribbons (1/2", 7/8", 1", 1.5", 2") -- see, it can get pricey, so please stick with rule #2a!!
3. Don't get discouraged!
4. Master one bow style at a time, so that you can perfect it and keep a binder or notebook oftips you find online or have figured out yourself!!
5. Once you have some bows you feel really confident about put them in your daughter's hair and say "thank you" when you get a compliment on your new little bow!
